From scenic boat tours along the Maas to mouthwatering encounters with irresistible French fries, this day was filled with culinary delights, architectural wonders, and personal discoveries. Our day in Maastricht began with a guided boat tour along the majestic Maas River. The tranquil waters and picturesque surroundings set the perfect ambiance, providing a serene escape from the bustling city. While the tour itself was brief, the experience was marred only by the occasional symphony of screaming children. Nonetheless, the beauty of the Maas and the joy of being on the water made it a memorable start to our day.
As we reached the other side of the Maas, the district of Wyck beckoned us with its stunning architecture and intriguing stores. Our original intention was to simply explore the surroundings, but culinary fate had other plans. We stumbled upon a French fries shop that emanated irresistible aromas. Succumbing to temptation, we indulged in mouthwatering creations. I savored the delightful combination of crispy French fries topped with pulled pork, a jalapeno-based BBQ sauce, and an extra kick of jalapeno, while others relished truffle mayo fries and crispy chicken doused in a spicy sauce. The unexpected detour into this gastronomic haven was an experience to savor.
Our exploration continued as we ventured to the Basilica of Saint Servatius, a majestic testament to architectural grandeur.
